BUSINESS AND ENTERPRISE
Students across all the Key Stages have access to a business related subject. The inclusion of Enterprise in Key Stage 3 has had a positive impact in assisting students when choosing their subject options for Key Stage 4. Studies in this area promote student understanding of the world of work, and help prepare the students for careers in industry and further education.

Several of our previous students have responsible positions in industry, and many students have gone on to university. The success of the department is demonstrated by good results at KS4 and KS5. We offer a great opportunity for students to explore the world of finance by delivering financial studies. Students benefit not only by learning about the real financial world but by the qualifications being recognised by universities with 70 UCAS points credited.

n business, the students put theory into practice with the enterprising ideas that they explore. Speakers regularly visit the school to give talks to the students about real-life industrial issues, and outside visits to sites of industry are frequently arranged.

We encourage our students to take an enterprising approach by running small businesses, whereby they can gain experience and confidence, by being entrepreneurs who handle financial affairs, explore different marketing strategies and experience the area of human resources.

Social enterprise is addressed by ongoing fundraising for charities. Students are encouraged to keep up to date with current affairs so they can widen their knowledge of real-life issues, helping to promote understanding and being able to relate to the work in the classroom.
