KS3 History

Students develop their knowledge and understanding of British history which is taught in chronological order from the Battle of Hastings (1066) all the way through to World War II (1939-45).  In terms of historical skills, students are encouraged to identify change and continuity, and to critically evaluate sources of evidence as well as historical interpretations.  They are expected to take a leading role in lessons by contributing to class discussions, delivering presentations and performing historical re-enactments.

At the end of Year 8, students can choose History as a GCSE option.  They start a foundation course in Year 9, which provides an introduction to GCSE topics including the Cold War and the Holocaust as preparation for the Modern World course.
