SPIRITUAL, MORAL, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL EDUCATION

At Kingsley Academy we promote different aspects of spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) education across the curriculum but with a more explicit focus in our RE, PSHEE, humanities and  citizenship lessons. However, SMSC is delivered or appears throughout the school in all subjects and in a wide range of activities, both within and out of school. Within our programme, we promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

PSHEE is integral to our assemblies. These are led by senior staff to illustrate the importance we accord to them; their content is based upon a motivational ‘word of the week’.  Year Leaders also deliver a weekly assembly, and  PSHEE runs through these too.

We organise additional events and clubs and promote activities which help us to embed student learning and appreciation of PSHEE and its relevance to their development as responsible citizens, caring for their communities (Kingsley Academy’s third value).

The ethos and values of the school inform and are informed by SMSC. At Kingsley Academy, we value staff and students who:

A - Are Aspirational and Ambitious

B - Believe that Breadth of experience leads to depth of character

C - Care for the academy and the local Community

D - Demand the highest standards in all that they do

E - Enjoy and Excel in learning

F - Face the Future with confidence, courage and positivity

These values ensure that SMSC is delivered at Kingsley Academy within a framework of educational expectations and outcomes.
