  • Picnic protest Primary and secondary schools in Isleworth, London Borough of Hounslow are staging a huge picnic in protest at the proposed cuts to education. Some primary schools are looking at budget reductions of over £100,000. Schools have lost specialist sports and music provision and in some cases are looking at reducing the length of the school day. The picnic takes place at St John's Park, St John's Road, Isleworth. See here for more information.

  • School Heads' warnings on funding cuts The parents of about half a million pupils in England were sent a letter last week warning of cuts to schools because of funding shortages. The heads of almost every school in Essex, West Sussex, East Sussex and Cornwall have written a joint letter warning of budgets at "breaking point". You can read more on the BBC website.
