  • KA judges praise primary pupils in the C8 Bake Off Final! Primary pupils from Years 4 - 6 in eight Hounslow  schools participated in the best Bake Off ever! This annual event takes place each Autumn term, with eliminating heats being run in the primaries (making cup cakes and a Victoria sponge), before the grand finale at Kingsley Academy - with the added bonus this year of using our brand new kitchens and, for some, a quick tour of the new building. The judges - Mr Sadhra and Ms Kirby - both described the baking as sensational, and were not surprised, when comparing marks, to find that there were only 3 marks between the whole group.   • Hounslow Teen Read Launch Ceremony The annual launch ceremony took place on Thursday 16th November at the Paul Robeson theatre with selected students.     Marcus Alexander, author of the powerful fantasy ‘Keeper of the Realm’ hosted the event with a highly motivational talk about how he is inspired and tools that help him to be creative. Marcus advocates the best mind to tap into creativity is the mind that experiences life, as he himself is a passionate traveller and tastes delicacies such as crickets and bugs.   • Year 9 students start TalentEd programme Four students in Year 9 have just begun a 21 week programme with Talent-Ed which is designed to stretch all aspects of learning. The impact of previous cohorts has just been recognised through the GCSE results achieved this summer. One student was predicted 2 Bs, 4 Cs, 2 Ds, 3 Es at the start of the programme and in infact achieved 2 As, 5 Bs, 2 Cs and 2 Ds, with an average improvement of more than one grade per subject (av. improvement of 1.3 grades). We have built an excellent relationship with Talent-Ed and we are confident that the selected students will really benefit from the small group tutoring and the positive working environment that is ...
