On Thursday 6th October Kingsley Academy held their first Year 7 Parents Social Evening. It was a very successful event with a  relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  The event had a fantastic turnout with 75 families attending.

Upon arrival, our guests were served delicious canapés and other refreshments prepared by Year 7 students and Ms Meads and Ms La Page from our Hospitality and Catering  Department.  Throughout the evening parents heard speeches from Ms Hosker, the Transition Director, Mrs Wayne, Year 7 Leader and four Year 7 students who spoke about their first-hand experiences of transition at Kingsley Academy.

The evening featured performances from Miralia in 7X who played a solo on her guitar, a drama performance showing parents how year 7 had adapted quickly to secondary school and, finally, our year 7 choir sang to end the evening.

Parents had an opportunity to meet the Senior Leadership Team, Year 7 Leader, tutors, subject teachers, other parents and take part in a Questions and Answers session in an informal environment. They also obtained some key curriculum information including a list of the wide range of enrichment/extra-curricular activities offered to Year 7 students.

We are very lucky to have such positive and supportive parents and we are looking forward to working in partnership with them for the foreseeable future.
