Four students in Year 9 have just begun a
21 week programme with Talent-Ed which is designed to stretch all aspects of learning. The impact of previous cohorts has just been recognised through the GCSE results achieved this summer. One student was predicted 2 Bs, 4 Cs, 2 Ds, 3 Es at the start of the programme and in infact achieved 2 As, 5 Bs, 2 Cs and 2 Ds, with an average improvement of more than one grade per subject (av. improvement of 1.3 grades).
We have built an excellent relationship with Talent-Ed and we are confident that the selected students will really benefit from the small group tutoring and the positive working environment that is created. The TalentEd team enjoy working with Kingsley as much as we enjoy working with them. Aileen Garland, School Relations Manager for the company says,“I use Kingsley Academy as our model school.” Tutor Vern adds, “I love coming to work with the students here at Kingsley Academy”. TalentEd Director said, "“At TalentEd, we are delighted to support another cohort of bright students at the Kingsley Academy. Our expert teachers support small groups of bright students after school each week to improve grades and future options. Recent graduates of the TalentEd programme at Kingsley Academy have excelled, including 4 students who gained a Level 9 in English or Maths (in the top 20% nationally of A* students) and, between them, a further 20 A*/A grades. We look forward to another successful year working with the school to support bright students to reach their potential.” Joseph Kimmelman, Director, TalentEd.
Quotes from Students:
“Talent Ed made me care a lot more about not just about having an education but also how to succeed in it. For example, types of revision material which suit me, therefore, showing me how to revise more effectively and efficiently. Plus, sessions regarding university is really helpful now for me as a year 12”.
"Talent Ed has helped me majorly in learning how to revise and how to spend time efficiently on revision. How to balance my education and social life during exam season.  It has also enabled me to explore different aspects of skills that are needed once you leave school."
“Talent Ed is a program that developed my skills and made me aware of other studying techniques. As a student, this program gave me insights on different dilemmas that various professions face and even made me reconsider my career pathways. Our tutor and the university student who were from Talent Ed shared their university and work experiences with the groups. Talent Ed even gave us the opportunity to join the Ideas Foundation which gives work experiences in the creative and business sector. This introduced me to how adverts were created and evoked my interest for business”.
“Each session was unique as in one there would be study techniques whereas in another session there would be a competition on who could make the best ad for the bank Coutts; our team didn't make it but it was a very good experience to have as it worked on our teamwork, communication, and public speaking skills.
"This program made me develop a lot as an individual”.
