Inspiring Book Week

Book Week was a huge
success with a week full of literary quizzes and author visits to promote reading for pleasure.

Y7/8 had author Jon Robinson come to talk to them about his very successful dystopian series 'Nowhere'. Jon delivered a very engaging and interactive talk about his journey to becoming an author and how he was inspired to pursue his dream. He advocated that to be successful in life you had to have a great deal of 'focus and determination and some wriggle-room'. This is what he had to say about his visit to us: "I had a fantastic time visiting Kingsley Academy - the pupils were some of the friendliest, engaged and most enthusiastic I've ever met! Everything was so well organised by the great staff and the day ran very smoothly. I would definitely recommend Kingsley Academy in a heartbeat!''

Y9 had a visit by author Taran Matharu who talked about his fantasy 'Summoner' series and how he started to write as early as 11 years old and used Wattpad to post his short stories. He encouraged budding authors to use Wattpad and gauge responses. Taran also met with 2 Y7 classes in the library and delivered a creative workshop to give them tips on how to be more imaginative.
