We are delighted to announce our Jack Petchey nominations for this term:

Leader award:  Marcus McTurk
Marcus is a dedicated teacher of Media and Film Studies but he is at his most inspiring outside the classroom.  He feels strongly that excellent lessons on their own are not enough and it is the extra-curricular activities which have the greatest impact on a students' life.  To this end, he has lead many residential excursions, including a creative trip to the Forest of Dean in which students wrote and took photographs of their evocative surroundings.  He led a trip to Bronte country and along with exploring and taking in the atmosphere of the Yorkshire dales, the students filmed, photographed, wrote and climbed Top Withens in challenging weather conditions.  He is one of the team behind our highly successful 'sic' magazine which is a termly collection of short stories, poems, photographs and art work.  Not only does he encourage students to contribute but frequently shares his own creative writing.  He takes an interest in the students he teaches, is an excellent form tutor and teacher and has inspired countless students with his passion for life.
