Poetry Slam
is an annual literacy initiative to promote creativity and imagination for Year 7 students across Hounslow. Along with other Secondary schools, we attended the event which took place on Thursday 9th June at the Paul Robeson Theatre. Also present were  Adam Kammerling and Deanna Rodger, winners of the national competition. Our students were interested to see what goes into the making of a poetry slam and were give tips from the winners who guided them through a workshop, where they learned how to create their own slam to perform.
The day ended with performances from all the schools.

The trip was amazing and it inspired me to write poems more frequently.
Nikitha Kalungwishi-Can - 7P

I enjoyed the workshop and it will helped me to understand how to improve my poems and make them more creative. I now write poems more regularly because of what I learned.
Yuvraj Singh - 7P

The trip was fantastic! I learned a lot about my peers, since one of the exercises included writing about ourselves.
Tejas Bawa - 7R

I really enjoyed the trip as we learned so much about 'slams'; more so because we had to perform them!
