What a night! Kingsley Performing Arts Showcase sets the standard

Last night saw the inaugural Btec Performing Arts showcase at Kingsley. Students from year 10 and 11 have worked tirelessly towards this date with feelings of both excitement and trepidation. All their hard work paid off and we were treated to a night of mesmerising performances, with acts including dance, drama and music. We were inspired by the words of Michelle Obama and shaken by those of Lady Macbeth. We were brought to tears with the raw emotion of some of the vocal performances, but those soon turned to tears of laughter with the arrival of comedy acts that could put the Three Stooges to shame. We were transported around the globe through traditional dances and brought back home through more contemporary moves.

Not only did students have to choreograph, devise and rehearse the programme for the evening, they also had to manage all technical aspects of production, from sound and lighting engineering to costume management and make up; from welcoming our audience as front of house staff to MC-ing the event. We are immensely proud of the effort of every student involved in the Performing Arts showcase and look forward to our next one!
