EXTRACURRICULAR AND HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Extracurricular

To support student pastoral development, members of Kingsley Academy’s Sixth Form are expected to participate in a Tutorial programme to aid their transition to KS5, help them to develop their studies and to advise them on the opportunities available after Post 16 education. Students will undertake a range of activities that include study skills, money management and Higher Education preparation programmes.

Students are also expected to participate in Student leadership opportunities. This includes our successful committee programme and an opportunity to apply for a Head Student role. This is extremely important for those planning to go on to further study as participation in this is expected by the top Universities.

Higher Education
Most students who follow courses into Year 13 go on to apply for university places. This is another challenging time when carefully considered decisions need to be made. It is ultimately the students themselves who must make important choices regarding their futures but we strive to support them in making informed decisions. The following support opportunities are available:

• One-to-one tutor support to discuss Higher Education options

• All Year 12 students visit the UCAS Higher Education Fair

• Access to Connexions Interviews

• Computer access for on-line UCAS applications

• Extensive university prospectus library

• Guest speakers focusing on Higher Education finance

• University interview training day

• Higher Education seminars

• University visits - UCL, Imperial, Kingston, City and Thames Valley Universities.
